Deed – Joseph Griffey to William Houchins -- 1847

Know all men by these presents that I Joseph Griffy of the County of Anderson and State of Kentucky, For and in the consideration of the sum of Three hundred dollars to me in hand paid by William Houchins have this day sold and conveyed and by these presents doth sell and Convey to saidWilliam Houchins a certain tract or parcel of land lying in the County and state aforesaid, and Bounds as follows. Beginning at a black Oak and Mulberry, on Ward’s line and running with said line, N 83° W 54 poles to a Hickory, Dogwood and two Maple trees, thence
N 6° E 46 poles to a Dogwood and two gum saplings, thence S 3° W 8 poles, comes to Wilkerson’s line, thence N 84° degrees E 152 poles to the Beginning. Containing by survey fifty seven acres. To have and to hold forever In trust however and for the sole and separate use and benefit of Ann Houchins and the children she now has, or may hereafter have by her present husband Stephen Houchins, and from the debt and [ ] of said Stephen Houchins and I do hereby covenant to warrant and defend said tract of land to the said William Houchins, his heirs, representatives and assigns forever, against the claim of all persons whomsoever. In Testimony Whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal, Together with Ann Griffy, the wife of said Joseph Griffy, who hereby relinquishes her right of Dower in and to the premises hereby convey this the 5th day of June 1847.
